I am looking for a new pet. I have a hermit crab, two kittens, a puppy, and some fish…and a lot of plants. I love to take care of things, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a good low maintenance reptile or amphibian to have as a new pet. I have a 10 and a 20 gallon tank to play around with.
Speaking from experience, I found that a snake is the easiest pet I have ever owned. I feed it every other week and in the winter months it didnt eat at all. Their waste is an easy cleanup and once a year I would change its bedding depending on need. You do however need to know what type of snake you want. Myself, I had a columbian red tail boa constrictor which grows to an extremely large size. But there are many others that stay small and they make great pets. They dont make noise or pee on the floor which is a major plus. Good luck and enjoy whatever you decide to get.
