if I let my cousin take care of my newt while I'm gone….?

When I go on vacation, I am thinking about letting my cousin take care of my newt, but there is a problem: he doesn't take care of his animals very well. He has a small herp habitat, but he keeps small fish and frogs in there and I'm afraid they will hurt my newt. How can I make sure he takes good care of him when I'm gone because he's the only one that will?

Simply instruct him that your newt is very important. If he doesn't seem to think it'll be unsafe in this cage give him a shot. Or try asking a friend and pay them a small sum I'd do it for five dollars so I'm sure you could find someone.

Can you successfully capture and maintain health of a yellow spotted salamander? If possible, are pet store supplied insects and worms okay for feeding?

wax worms and crickets are a good fod for them.make thier new home as natural as possible and there should be no problem.

yes, it has crickets, bark?, night and day lamps, a very large tank, clean water, etc. I understand your concern, but I don't need to be given the third degree. My family and I got it from a pet store and we already have two turtles. Just wanting to make sure we know all there is to know…the specifics.

In consideration of your frog, my best advice is to let it go where it can survive. Frogs were never intended to be human pets or companions. That's why God gave us dogs, cats, and fish. Owning a pet frog certainly makes you unique among your friends, I'm sure. But your search for this type of attention is cruel to your animal. Let him go. If you refuse to release him into the wild where he belongs, then you must provide a suitable environment – heat, humidity, foilage, proper water, etc.. As for food, you need to give your frog access to live insects to eat, especially mosquitos and flies. They also consume large quantities of insect larvae. Can you do this? If not, you're depriving your frog of the elements he needs to survive, and soon he will die. Please let him go.

What type of pet would be a good one for a daycare?

I run a daycare from my home, and want to get a pet for the kids that I care for. Many of them don't have a pet at home, and I think that it would be good for them. What type of animal would be the best around small children? I want something that they can touch, and possibly hold.

My state has restrictions on what I cannot have. No reptiles, or chickens, or amphibians, or tigers, or monkeys….

I know, strange rules, but that is what they actually wrote in the rulebook.
