Ok, To make this simple, I got about 5 tadpoles from my teacher in science class. His are still tadpoles and still eat algae. I was told to feed it algae on a previous yahoo answers. But now I have the tadpole has 4 legs and barely a tail left. These have been born in captivity before we picked them up out of the lake so they dont know what to do in the wild. I need to know what a proper tank should have. (right now i have 2 rocks. 1 with algae and another out of water. He likes going to the one out of the water.) The last one we had died. and we dont want this one to. So what should we feed him? Thats all I basicly need to know. Could small ants work? My mom said she knows where they are. Also he is about a inch long. So if you know what kind of toad this is, it will help a lot. Even an idea for it. So that you for reading!!!!
Frogs and toads hunt for food primarily on land. It needs insects and other small invertebrates to eat, ants are not good food. You can't just have a rock for it to sit on it needs land. If you try to feed it on a rock the food will jump into the water and be gone. It doesn't matter that the eggs hatched in captivity, they still know how to survive free. Nobody can tell you what kind of "toad" you have. If the eggs were in strings they were toad eggs and if they were in a blob they were frog eggs. Your Clue about an inch long well that fits almost every single frog on earth at some point in it's life. Where did it come from? What color is it's back, bottom, chin, legs, etc? Does it have spots?

Where can I find how the red eyed tree frog cares for its young(be very specfic)?
your local library!!!! there will be a parking lot out side the library where either you can park your car or parents drop you off. or even ride bike there. when you walk in the swinging door, there will be a lady, normally called a "librarian" who can show where books for the above mentioned subject are. or you could go looking on your own, most likely in the science aisle. so you look for the science section and walk up and down the aisles. on both sides of you, there are going to large pieces of wood, usually, with shelves on them. these are called bookcases. on these bookcases there will something called a book. look for a book for frogs and then grasp book firmly with your hand. gently pull out book as not to spill over other books. hold book and walk over to the counter where the "librarian" is and tell her you would like to borrow this book and she will assist you with the rest of the process of READING A BOOK.
specific enough?
Albino Packman frog?
I am here asking this question for my Aunt, not for me. She recently was at a pet store, and found a few pacman frogs, one being albino, and she fell in love. She wants to get a proper area for an Albino Pacman Frog. What are things you need? Housing? Food? Setup? Temperature? Humidity? Bedding? Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh, and I am sorry for posting this in the reptiles section, they don't have an amphibian one, sorry.
i had an albino pacman frog, his set up was as follows..
Fishtank, with forest bedding on the bottom about 2-3 inches deep, a shallow water dish with gravel at the bottom as they aren't great swimmers. and a heat mat under the tank. simple as that, a few fake plants for prettynes and a nice piece of decrative log.
keep the tank moist with a misting every day. the frog won't do much, they tend to just dig themselves into a burrow and sit and wait for food.
There is a bit of debate over UV with these frogs, some say they shouldn't have it becuase they are albino, and some say that they should, i didn't have UV with mine and he was fine, just make sure you use calcium suppliments on his food.
As for food… as a baby mine love earthworms, which you can order on line. and crickets and locusts (hoppers) as an adult he got the same just bigger with the odd defrosted mice in too, which he loved, he got the the stage/size where he would happily down a small adult mouse in one go.
They are simple and lovely animals to keep. Sadly mine passed away, due to old age i believe.
Oh and don't handle him with dry hands, always make sure your hands are wet and kept at a low distance from the ground so he doesn't hurt himself when he jumps out of your hands (which he will do!!) as he gets bigger you prob won't want to handle him as they are just one big mouth and, dispite their squidgey appearance, pack a good punch with their hardened gum/teeth.

Good luck
I just bought a newt and I have some questions about care.?
I was wondering what kind, if any, special things need to be in the tank for it, is there an easy way to tell the gender of my newt, and is okay to touch the newt w/ my bare hands? I've looked up some information, but everything gives different info. and I'm not sure what kind of newt it is either, but I know it's not a fire belly newt. I appreciate the help. Thanks! 🙂

Care/feeding for a tiger salamander?
While cleaning my sons' room, I discovered that they had smuggled a tiger salamander they had caught in our back yard into the house and hid it in a dresser drawer. LAST WEEK. So, now we have a salamander. They found it on a rainy day, and now it's all hot and nasty and the ground is packed solid, so I don't know whether the poor thing will survive the heat long enough to burrow. Help????
Lighting
Lighting should be kept subdued. Lights are unnecessary for salamanders as most will not become active until it is dark.
Temperature
The temperature should be between 60-75 degrees. Temperatures of 85 degrees or more will kill most salamanders within hours.
Food
Crickets dusted with calcium. Brine Shrimp (frozen), Ghost Shrimp (live), Bloodworms (frozen). Adults should be fed every other day, juveniles can be fed 2 times daily since they will be growing.
Water
Water should be changed monthly, if a filter is used, otherwise you must change the water daily or every other day. Mist cage daily.
Housing
10-gallon tank is minimum. Screen Lid required for air exchange. Viquarium (Half water / half land) setup should be used.
Number Per Enclosure
One male per enclosure.
Some info on how to take care of my Red eyed tree frog plz?
I was just wondering if someone could give me some good advice on how I could take care of my red eyed tree frog better than I already am. I live in a high altitude, so keeping humidity in the tank is tough, but I manage. i just need some info on how to keep fresh air circulated, keep humidity in, etc… Thanx!
In addition to what eye biter told you, make use of live plants. If you keep the substrate moist enough, they will take up the water and transpire it through the leaves. This also provides climbing areas and hiding spots for your frog. Above tank lighting (I always used a full-spectrum incandescent) provides heat as well as light to help the plants grow.
