ok..well me and my friend were walking home and we saw a toad so we caught it..now i wanna know how to take care of it!we have it in a big bucket thing and theres grass,,buggs,,and stuff in it..what else should we do??
Keep it in a 20 gallon terrariium. Provide a heat lamp. crickets and a big bowl of water(change daily) The bedding shpuld be peat moss and driftwood. Make sure to put a piece of food in the tank when you empty in crickets for the toad to eat. If crickets get REALLY HUNGRY then they might turn on your toad so give them something like a piece of bread of lettuce for the insects to munch upon.

you should let it back out where you found it!!
wild caught toads probably have a parasite load and you'll have to take it to a vet and have it treated it you want to keep it as a pet. You'll also have to provide a tank environment similar to it's wild surroundings, which include a muddy dry area, and a wet pond area for it to soak in. You'll have to provide huts/caves for it to hide in to feel secure, and you'll have to purchase insect feed to feed it, and learn how to gutload these insects to provide proper nutrients.
you'll also have to ID the toad to be sure you are giving it proper nutrients, since all toads and frogs have different necessary intakes.
You'll also have to provide some sort of heat source since reptiles can't regulate their own body temps. you'll have to get a thermometer and hygrometer to make sure temperature and humidity is correct.
So bottom line is – it's just easier to let him go. seriously.

Well, i have a fire bellied toad of my own, and it seems like you've got it all right…..by the way, they seem to love crickets, so that is key. You should probably go to your local pet store for an actual aquarium for the toad. a ten gallon would do fine ,and they cost only about $10.00. Staple diet should be crickets, which can be caught outside or bought from the pet store. you might wanna also keep a fairly deep large dish of water so they can soak in that; they love it. some grass on the bottom of the aquarium would do fine. Some plastic plants to climb on and maybe a log hideout would also be appreciated.
GOOD LUCK with your new little friend!

It does not need to be taken care of, it can do that just fine on its own, in the wild. Please let it go. If you have no idea how to care for it, it's better off in the wild.

I JUST WAS GIVEN A TOAD THE SIZE OF THE WIDTH OF A COFFEE CUP AND HE LIKES TO SWIM IN MY BATHTUB AND EAT ABOUT 9 CRICKETS PER DAY. I’VE NOTICED HE IS A LOT HAPPIER WHEN I LET HIM SWIM FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR IN LUKEWARM WATER EACH DAY. HE HAS A FAIRLY LARGE CAGE AND FILLED WITH BARK, REAL PLANTS, A NICE SIZE POOL AND HIDE A WAY CAVE TO SLEEP. HE TENDS TO SQUEAK DURING THE NIGHT ESPECIALLY WHEN I TURN OFF ALL THE LIGHTS. MY QUESTION:SHOULD I DO ANYTHING ELSE AND HOW LONG DO THEY LIVE WHEN HEALTHY AND WELL FED AND WATER ALWAYS THERE? THANK YOU- I CERTAINLY APPRECIATE ANYTHING ANYONE CAN HELP ME WITH, THANKS
