When I go on vacation, I am thinking about letting my cousin take care of my newt, but there is a problem: he doesn't take care of his animals very well. He has a small herp habitat, but he keeps small fish and frogs in there and I'm afraid they will hurt my newt. How can I make sure he takes good care of him when I'm gone because he's the only one that will?
Simply instruct him that your newt is very important. If he doesn't seem to think it'll be unsafe in this cage give him a shot. Or try asking a friend and pay them a small sum I'd do it for five dollars so I'm sure you could find someone.

Take your habitat to his house along with detailed instructions stating what you need to have done each day.
This way your newt will not have to deal with the shock of a new habitat, new roomates and a new house. This is the best I can offer.
